Fiona Leach, Practising Gender Analysis in Education

OXFAM SKILLS AND PRACTICE

Tools and frameworks for gender-sensitive analysis have long been used in development contexts. They can help to clarify issues of gender bias, discrimination, and inequality, and to identify possible strategies for change.
This book presents a number of established gender analysis frameworks and suggests modifications to suit educational settings, highlighting strengths and limitations and using case studies drawn from education.
It also explores other tools for gender analysis largely drawn from Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) resources, and includes a chapter on
curriculum materials. Practising Gender Analysis in Education is a companion volume to A Guide to Gender Analysis Frameworks (1999, 0xfam).

Fiona Leach is a specialist in gender and education in the field of educational development. She has taught in Sudan, Egypt, and Zaire, and currently lectures and researches at the University of Sussex.
